Risi with super strong outfit

Risi Competizione will bring some of the very best drivers available, when the Daytona 24 hours runs next month.

The Ferrari 488 GTE in GTLM category will consist of James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi, Davide Rigon plus Jules Gounon.

Calado and Pier Guidi has previously won Petit Le Mans in 2019, when they raced for the Risi team. They also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans together for AF Corse in the summer of 2019, and was crowned FIA WEC World Champions 2018.

Gounon was part of the Risi Competizione outfit at Le Mans 2019 and 2020, where he raced the somewhat untraditional blue Ferrari, together with Oliver Jarvis and Pipo Derani in the first year, and Sebastien Bourdais and Olivier Pla in a traditional red one in 2020.

Risi Competizione only managed to run two races during the 2020 season – Daytona in January, and Le Mans in September. The plan was to have added Sebring in March and Petit Le Mans in October. that failed to happen, since the season was pushed back due to COVID-19, so the car was still being shipped back from France, when Petit Le Mans was run – and all the works drivers were busy with FIA WEC and GT World races, on the same weekend as the Sebring 12 Hours.

This will be the 20th time for Risi Competizione at Daytona, which they won in 2002. That’s the 6th time for James Calado, and the 8th time for both Alessandro Pier Guidi and Davide Rigon. Jules Gounon is rookie at the race.

The opening practice sessions for the Rolex 24 at Daytona will start on 22 January with the ROAR test, before the race itself will be run on 30-31 January.
