Hunter-Reay stays at Andretti

Ryan Hunter-Reay will have another season in the NTT IndyCar Series at Andretti Autosport.

The 40-year-old American has extended his deal, so the two parties will have their 12th season together.

The main sponsor of the #28, DHL, has also extended their deal, so they will be running together for the 11th season.

“Captain America” has run the yellow colours on the car since 2014, where the collaboration was extended to being the primary sponsor of the car.

Hunter-Reay won the 2012 title, and took his one and only Indy500 so far, two years later.

He has been unlucky time and time again, where the experienced driver has been punted off by one of his teammates. We are getting close to three years since his last victory. The 2020 season saw him standing on the podium just once, so he advanced to a total of 47 podiums, including 18 race wins.

He has become a regular third driver in the IMSA and ALMS series, in which he has won in. He is actually the only American to win in NTT IndyCar Series, CART, Champ Car, IMSA and ALMS.

He is the so far third driver to be announced by Andretti Autosport. Colton Herta and Alexander Rossi are the two others, while James Hinchcliffe is expected to be announced as the fourth driver in the near future.
