Davidson, Gonzalez and Felix da Costa stay at JOTA

JOTA Sport will keep hold of their three drivers from the just-completed 2019/20 season in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Anthony Davidson, Roberto Gonzalez and Antonio Felix da Costa will return for a second season in the FIA WEC 2021.

Davidson and Gonzalez have been teammates since the summer of 2018, when Davidson was done being race- and reserve driver at Toyota, following Le Mans. They raced the 2018/19 season at DragonSpeed, where they had Pastor Maldonado as the third driver.

The switched to JOTA, following the 2018/19 season, and was seated in the Goodyear car, plus swapping Maldonado for Felix da Costa.

The team was really close at grabbing the Le Mans victory in September 2020, but ended finishing second in both that race, and in the LMP2 Championship to United Autosports. They did claim a win earlier in the year in Shanghai and will return to the 2021 season with new hope.

One of the advantages, that they might have, is that they have already raced a full season the Goodyear tires, which is the mandatory tire brand in LMP2 from 2021 onwards. Even though some new compounds will be brought in for the 2021 season, there might still be a bit of previous knowledge and characteristic that will be similar.

They will keep their car number 38, which will bump the second JOTA car, that was announced just over a week ago, to a different race number in the FIA WEC, while they will keep #38 for the Asian Le Mans Series.

The FIA World Endurance Championship 2021 season is scheduled to start at Sebring in the middle of March.
