Formula E releases next batch of dates

ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has released the next batch of dates for their 2021 schedule.

The electric car series has chosen to do it in batches, since the COVID-19 situation has a great influence on how things progress.

The season opener in Chile was meant to run in the middle of January, but has been pushed back to June.

That makes Saudi Arabia the season opener on 26-27 February, with two night races, as a first time thing in Formula E.

The series then travels to Rome, Valencia, Monaco, Marrakech and Santiago in April, May and June. Valencia is new to the schedule, and will probably be a layout on Circuito Ricardo Tormo, that has been used for Formula E testing over the last few years. That is an easy way to keep spectators out, in case they need to do so.

The organizers have agreed with Paris, that their 2021 race will be moved to 2022 instead.

The races in Sanya and Seoul, which should have been run in March and May respectively, has been moved until later in the season, and their future will be revealed in the early spring months, along with the rest of the Season 7/2021 schedule.

All dates are provisional since local COVID-19 situation could change.

The track builders are already busy in Saudi Arabia, so we are quite certain for that race to be run. The Dakar Rally was run early January throughout the country, so the desert state has already proven its capabilities to host a sporting event.
