Inter Europol Competition has a replacement ready for later in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2021 season.
The Polish outfit usually runs Kuba Smiechowski, Alex Brundle, and Renger van der Zande in their FIA WEC rookie season, but the latter has a programme in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship too, with two dates clashing.
The team has made a deal with Louis Deletraz, to help out at those two rounds. Deletraz knows the ORECA 07 LMP2 already from his European Le Mans Series duties at Team WRT.
With the first schedules out, there was no clash between the FIA WEC and IMSA, but then we had IMSA moving Long Beach to September, so it clashes with the Fuji round. Then it was necessary for the FIA WEC to postpone the season start from Sebring to Portimao – and then, later on, Portimao was moved to the same weekend as Detroit.
Inter Europol Competition is not the only team with these problems. United Autosports USA #22 has the same problems with Filipe Albuquerque, who is active in the IMSA series too, but the team hasn’t released any news yet, about who will replace him, or if they will run a two-driver only line-up.
The Portimao race is scheduled for 13 June, while Fuji is planned for 26 September.
