There were quite a few changes to the Michelin Le Mans Cup standings, following the two rounds of Road To Le Mans at Circuit de la Sarthe.
Nielsen Racing #7 is back in front of the LMP3 championship, with a victory in the Thursday race, and a DNF in the Saturday race. Rinaldi Racing #66 scored two second-place points finishes, jumping all the way into second in the standings, while United Autosport #22 and #23 has fallen back to third and fourth places receptively. Cool Racing #69 in P5 is probably the last team with a theoretical chance of the championship, being just 22 points be lead, and with 52 points still available.
Iron Lynx Ferrari #8 has extended their GT3 championship lead, with a victory and a second-place finish. That is mainly down to Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche #2 having to retire in race one. The team with the very long name above the door are still second in the standings, while Nicolas Leutwiler leads the driver’s standings. That is down to Iron Lynx Ferrari #8 swapping drivers all the time – but that doesn’t matter to them, since it’s the team’s title, that would give them a Le Mans ticket for 2022 – one they are trying to win for the second year in a row. Iron Lynx Ferrari #9 are currently third in the standings.
The next round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup will run on 18 September at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.
