Racing Team Nederland are travelling to the USA
The Dutch team will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2022, where they once again will race the yellow and black colours on the ORECA 07 Gibson LMP2 car.
The team won the LMP2 Pro/Am title in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2021 with team owner Frits van Eerd. Unfortunately, both Giedo van der Garde and Job van Uitert missed out on the title, since each had to miss out a round due to a positive COVID-19 test.
The collaboration with TDS Racing will continue, so they once again will run the car in 2022.
There are changes to the driver line-up. Frits van Eerd will continue alongside Giedo van der Garde, with some American input in the shape of Dylan Murry. Murry is a young talent, and most importantly of Silver ranked status, which is a must in IMSA, with a Bronze and a maximum one Gold or Platinum ranked driver in the regular LMP2 races. That is part of the reason why Gold-ranked driver Job van Uitert won’t be racing the car in 2022.
There will however be a third Dutchman in the car for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Rinus VeeKay is allowed to race there, since an additional Gold-ranked driver can run for the 24 hours race. VeeKay, who once again will run a full season of NTT IndyCar Series, has been supported by Jumbo for many years, including running a full Jumbo liveried car in the junior categories.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season 2022 starts on the final weekend of January, with the 24 hours race at Daytona International Speedway.
