Kvyat new man at G-Drive

There will still be a Russian flagged driver at G-Drive Racing, when they run in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2022.

Daniil Kvyat will be racing for the team, run by Algarve Pro Racing, and that will be the sportscar debut for the 27-year-old driver.

G-Drive Racing has traditionally run another Russian driver, in the shape of Roman Rusinov. But he won’t be running in the FIA WEC this year, but will go for the European Le Mans Series instead.

Kvyat was part of the Red Bull programme for many seasons, and was part of Formula 1 with a total of 110 starts, including 3 podium finishes.

The Russian will be racing the ORECA 07 Gibson LMP2 car alongside James Allen and Rene Binder, who was announced several weeks ago

G-Drive Racing has expanded their sportscar programme quite a bit for 2022. On top of this single entry for the FIA WEC, there will be two cars in the European Le Mans Series in LMP2, and a single LMP3 entry, in addition to their current participation in the Asian Le Mans Series in LMP3. While Algarve Pro Racing is running the LMP2 cars, it’s the Graff Racing outfit that has been tasked with the LMP3 programme.

The FIA World Endurance Championship 2022 season starts on 18 March at Sebring International Raceway.
