United Autosports has managed to sign another young talent into their sportscar programme.
Finn Gehrsitz will be the third driver of their LMP3 car #2 in the European Le Mans Series.
The 17-year-old German got a call only a few weeks ago, when the team needed a driver for their ELMS programme. He will be joined by Josh Caygill and Bailey Voisin.
Gehrsitz made his race car debut in 2021, after many years in karting. He raced in the Michelin Le Mans Cup for Phoenix Racing. He was super close at snatching Pole Position as Bronze rated driver at the opening round in Barcelona, and posted top times during all the race weekends. His speed resulted in the team quickly picking up some of the penalty seconds, which is meant to equalize some superior Bronze drivers, and due to his co-drive not being really up to speed at the first two rounds, the best results of the 2021 season ended up being two fourth-place finishes.
Finn Gehrsitz also got some experience from a Porsche GT3 R, which he raced in the Asian Le Mans Series 2022. He was part of the Herberth Motorsport outfit, which utilized him as a Bronze for the very final races, before he was upgraded to Silver ranked driver for the rest of 2022.
The European le Mans Series 2022 starts on 17 April at Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France.
