United Autosports ready with their first LMP2 car for 2023

United Autosports are fast out of the gate with their 2023 announcements.

The serial winning team will enter the European Le Mans Series with an LMP2 Pro/Am car, with two very strong drivers in the line-up.

Brazilian racer Daniel Schneider and brit Andy Meyrick will continue their collaboration from the Michelin Le Mans Cup, where they have been paired up since 2020.

They will be joined by none other than Nelson Piquet Jr. in the car. The Brazilian has previously raced in the LMP2 category for Rebellion racing, where he was teamed up with David Heinemeier Hansson and Mathias Beche in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He has primarily been focusing on Stock Car Brazil since, but will be back for another European season.

This is the first time for UA to enter an LMP2 Pro/Am car. The team has only participated in the main LMP2 category until now. The difference is that a Pro/Am car needs to have a Bronze rated driver in the car, while the minimum requirement for the main LMP2 category is a Silver driver.

The team has won titles in both LMP3 and LMP2 in the European Le Mans Series, along with the LMP2 title in the FIA World Endurance Championship. They haven’t won titles in the Michelin Le Mans Cup yet, but they have claimed both wins and podiums. Schneider and Meyrick have a single podium finish together, which was at Paul Ricard in 2020.

Schneider has scored a single point so far in the 2022 season, with a 10th place finish at the opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard, while the team retired from a potential top-5 finish due to a puncture for Meyrick, with only a few minutes remaining.
