The 2022 season finale in the FIA WEC, which will run at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, will see a change in the line-up at Peugeot TotalEnergies.
The French outfit has said goodbye to James Rossiter immediately, since the Brit moved to a new job as team principal at Maserati in Formula E. So he only got two race weekends onboard the new Peugeot 9×8 Hypercar
The team has called up Nico Müller instead. Müller signed a contract with the French car manufacturer, after being an Audi Sport driver for many years. He was actually lined up to be a part of their new LMDh Programme, but that got scrapped in favor of a Formula 1 Programme instead.
That leaves a seat open at Vector Sport, which will be filled by Renger van der Zande. He subbed for the Swiss driver in Japan, when he had DTM commitments for Audi Sport on the same weekend. Van der Zande will be sharing the car with his IMSA teammate Sebastien Bourdais, plus the cornerstone, and the owner of the actual LMP2 chassis, that Vector Sport utilizes – Ryan Cullen.
Müller had already signed a deal with Peugeot TotalEnergies for 2023, so the collaboration just starts one race earlier than initially intended.
The 8 Hours of Bahrain will be run Saturday 12 November 2022, where he will share the car #94 with Loic Duval and Gustavo Menezes.
