RWR ready for IMSA 2023

Rick Ware Racing has announced their drivers for the upcoming 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The two full-season drivers will be Eric Lux and Pietro Fittipaldi, who will do all of the races with the ORECA 07 Gibson LMP2 car #51.

Lux has participated in the Daytona 24 hours race 12 times before, and is the defending winner of the race, having raced for DragonSpeed USA. This will be the first time that Fittipaldi will be racing at the event. Several members of his family have already won there, with both Christian Fittipaldi and Max Papis having claimed several overall wins.

They will be joined by one of the teammates from the 2022 win – but only for the four endurance rounds. Indycar racer Devlin DeFrancesco showed a good pace during the race last year, so he will be back in 2023. But since there are several date clashes between the two series, it’s only possible for DeFrancesco to do the four Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.

The fourth driver for Daytona only is Austin Cindric. The defending Daytona 500 Champion has participated in the 24 hours race before, but hasn’t won the race yet.

Rick Ware Racing did participate in selected IMSA rounds in 2022, but that was with an Acura NSX GT3 in the GTD category.

The 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona will be run on 28-29 January, with testing starting one weekend earlier.
