WTRAndretti with extra car in 2024

There will be a new car on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship grid for the 2024 season.

A new collaboration between Wayne Taylor Racing and Andretti Autosport was announced earlier this year, in regards to their sportscar programmes. In 2023, they would continue to run separate programmes.

WTR currently competes with the Acura ARX-06 LMDh car, plus a GTD programme at the four Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, while Andretti Autosport has two programmes, where they compete with an LMP3 car for the longer races, and a GTD programme for the shorter races.

WTRAndretti will bring an extra ARX-06 on the track in IMSA in 2024. The team has stated that this will be a big advantage, to have a second car running – just like Acura Team Penske did in 2018-2020, and BMW M Team RLL and Porsche Penske Motorsport does in 2023.

There have been speculations about a WTRAndretti programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024 with the ARX-06 model, but that has not yet been confirmed by the team or manufacturer.

Acura is currently represented in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with both Konica Minolta Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing. The status of the MSR programme following this announcement is currently unknown, since Acura historically only have had two cars running in the top category of IMSA.
