Rexy goes to Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans often delivers some special liveries, that maybe, maybe not will only be seen once, and are instant iconic for the future.

We saw that with the Pink Pig design at Porsche in 1971, which was revived for the 2018 race – and won the GTE pro category.

Another design that has already become an instant classic is Rexy. It made its first appearance with AO Racing for the 12 hours of Sebring, and was immediately a favourite amongst the fans. Their Porsche 911 GT3 R was painted all green, and decorated as a dinosaur, with arms nostrils, etc.

AO Racing is also active in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Team Project 1. They have run a standard, calm livery for the first three rounds of the 2023 championship. but for the 24-hour race in France, they will add the green design to their Porsche 911 RSR-19 in the GTE Am category.

The team has also revealed, that there will be merchandise available with Rexy, which the design in IMSA has been named.

The son of PJ Hyett inspired Daddy to have a dinosaur on the helmet, and that turned into the whole car being a dino.

The first on-track action for the design will be on Sunday 4 June, with the mandatory test day at Circuit de la Sarthe, before the race activities continue in the following week, culminating with the 24-hour race on 10-11 June.

It is still not known if this is a one-off, or if Rexy will stay on the car for the rest of the FIA WEC season.
