Isotta Fraschini ends WEC programme

Isotta Fraschini has chosen to end their 2024 programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship immediately.

The Italian car manufacturer had prepared their entry for a couple of year, but it was a very turbulent entry.

Vector Sport was originally slated to race the cars, but it was announced only a few hours before the release of the FIA WEC 2024 entry list, that they would no longer be a partner, and the French Duqueine outfit would run the car instead.

It’s been a tough season for the team, in addition to that. The only race completed was the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they finished 14th, 9 laps behind the winning Ferrari AF Corse #50.

There have been some changes amongst the drivers too. All the drivers announced by Vector Sport were ditched, so Jean-Karl Vernay, Carl Wattana Bennett and Antonio Serravalle were put in the car instead. Bennett and Serravalle are both Silver-ranked drivers, and are the only non-Gold or Platinum drivers in the Hypercar category, that is filled by works drivers from each other brand.

It is not clear what will happen to the Fraschini Tipo6-C. The team has sent out a press release, that the programme ends, and they mention that they are going to focus on the development and sales of their track and road versions of the Tipo-6. There is no mention of the 2025 season in the press release today.

That puts the FIA WEC entry down to 36 cars, for the 6th round of the championship, which will be run at Circuit Of The Americas in the USA in one and a half weeks.
