The first two Hypercar drivers for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship programme for Aston Martin THOR Team have been confirmed by the team.
Harry Tincknell and Alex Riberas will pilot their own Aston Martin Valkyrie during next season, racing cars #007 and #009 respectively.
Tincknell has previously raced for Aston Martin Racing, when they entered GTE Pro cars, and was part of the winning crew at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020 alongside Alex Lynn and Maxime Martin, while the World Championship title went to Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen in the team car. Tincknell is a works driver for Multimatic, and has been part of the construction of the Valkyrie road car, and has been part of the test and development of the LMH version, that will be used for the upcoming season.
Riberas has been THOR (Team Heart Of Racing) driver in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for several seasons in the GTD categories and has been part of testing the car for the past few months.
The team has confirmed, that the very first race for the car will be the 1812-kilometre race in Qatar in the FIA WEC, while their IMSA debut will be at the Sebring 12 Hours in March. So they will skip the opening round at Daytona, to have more time to test and prepare for their debut.
None of the IMSA drivers is confirmed yet, but Roman De Angelis, Alex Riberas, and Ross Gunn tested the car at last week’s test at the Daytona International Speedway, where the picture in this article is from.
Aston Martin THOR Team are also expected to enter the FIA WEC with a single Aston Martin Vantage LMGT3, just like they will participate with a Vantage GT3 in the GTD category in IMSA.
