Magnussen signs with BMW M Motorsport

Kevin Magnussen will be a new driver at BMW M Motorsport for the 2025 season.

The 32-year old Dane will be racing the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh car, after ending his Formula 1 career for a second time.

It is not yet revealed, if he will race in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship or the FIA World Endurance Championship, but the Dane has previously raced in IMSA for Chip Ganassi Racing, when they were running the Cadillac programme in 2021.

Kevin had a deal with Peugeot TotalEnergies too, to become race driver for them, but when the Formula 1 offer from HAAS F1 Team showed up, he opted to go down that route once again.

Kevin Magnussen did race the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021, where he shared an LMP2 car with his dad Jan plus Anders Fjordbach. It is not yet known, if Magnussen jr. will be racing Le Mans 2025 – that all depends on if it’s an IMSA or FIA WEC programme, that BMW M Motorsport will put the Dane in.

There has been some change to the team, with Nick Yelloly leaving for Meyer Shank Racing Acura in the IMSA series, so there is at least one vacant seat there.

BMW M Motorsport has only put Rene Rast and Dries Vanthoor on the entry list for the two FIA WEC cars in 2025.
