Darren Leung will be switching brands for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Leung will be moving from Team WRT BMW in 2024 to United Autosports McLaren for 2025.
37 year old Leung has a past in British GT, but has also been competing in GT World Challenge, before entering the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024, in the brand new LMGT3 category.
Darren Leung will be sharing car #95 with Marino Sato, and a not yet announced third driver. With Leung as Bronze driver and Sato as Gold ranked driver, we already know that it will be a silver ranked driver in the last seat. Nico Pino was the Silver driver in 2024 in car #95.
We still don’t know the names of the Bronze nor Silver drivers at Team WRT BMW in 2025. So far, only Augusto Farfus is announced in one of the cars, while Maxime Martin was announced in the other – but then he moved to Mercedes-AMG, and will run in Iron Lynx. So they are currently in the need of five drivers.
There are only a few weeks until the full FIA WEC entry list with all driver names will be announced, so we will soon know the names of the three remaining United Autosports drivers. Gregory Saucy has so far got the call up once again for car #59.
The FIA World Endurance Championship 2025 will start on 28 February in Qatar, with test days in the days leading up to that.
