Porsche Penske Motorsport has announced the drivers for their extra car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2025.
We have known for about a month, that Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr would be two of the three drivers in the car. They are paired up in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year as well, so it’s only natural for them to compete in the 24 hours race.
Pascal Wehrlein will be the third driver in the car, following his participation with JDC-Miller Motorsports at the Daytona 24 Hours.
Wehrlein is Porsche factory driver, who competes in the ABB Formula E World Championship, where he is the defending champion.
This is the first Le Mans for Wehrlein, and only his second sportscar race.

The German do however has experience from prototype cars, since he raced for several years in the “old” DTM, where he won the championship for Mercedes i 2015. That gave him access to Formula 1, where he raced for Manor and Sauber during 2016 and 2017. The Formula 1 chances dried out for him, so he moved into the Formula E series instaed.
The teammate of Wehrlein in Formula E, Antonio Felix da Costa, has also been announced for the Le Mans entry list. He will be running in the LMP2 category, pairing up with Francois Perrodo in AF Corse #15. Perrodo is one of the best Bronze rated drivers in the field, and is defending champion in the European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro/Am, and has previously won Le Mans.
Nico Müller is also works driver for Porsche in Formula E, where he races for the Andretti team, who races with a Porsche drivetrain. The Swiss racer participated in the 12 hours race at Sebring earlier this month, where it was his turn to race for JDC-Miller Motorsports. The Le Mans choice did however go to Wehrlein, despite Müller having experience in the 24 hours race with Peugeot TotalEnergies and Vector Sport prior to that.
It is a bit of a crazy fact – but Pascal Wehrlein is the only German racing a Porsche 963 Hypercar at Le Mans 2025.
Nick Tandy, Felipe Nasr, and Pascal Wehrlein will race car #4. Julien Andlauer, Michael Christensen, and Mathieu Jaminet will run car #5, while Laurens Vanthoor, Kevin Estre, and Matt Campbell races car #6. Jaminet and Campbell are paired up in the IMSA series, which makes all their IMSA drivers active at Le Mans.
Proton Competition Porsche #99 will be shared by Neel Jani, Nico Pino, and Nicolas Varrone in their privateer 963.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2025 will be run on 14-15 June at Circuit de la Sarthe.
