Conway injured again – Lopez and Hawksworth called up

Mike Conway has once again been injured in a training accident.

The British driver was training for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship round at Circuit Of The Americas, which is scheduled to take place this weekend, but was unlucky to break his collarbone once again. It is unknown if it’s the same collarbone as last year, when he crashed his road bike, before the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team has not revealed if this is another cycling accident or if it happened in another way.

The team has called up Jose Maria Lopez for car #7, just like they did in 2024, and he will be sharing the GR010 with Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries.

The other car in the team will be raced by Sebastien Buemi, who returns from his Formula E duties, when the team raced in Brazil in July, alongside Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa.

Akkodis ASP Lexus has to call up Jack Hawksworth once again, replacing Lopez in car #87. The British driver will join Clemens Schmid and Petru Umbrarescu. Hawksworth raced car #78 earlier in the season, when he replaced Ben Barnicoat, due to a cycling accident for Barnicoat in March.

Racing24-7.net wishes Mike Conway a speedy recovery, and hopes to see him back in the car in Fuji later this month, if not, back at the season finale in Bahrain in November.
