Milesi: “We can be really happy with what we done”

Alpine Endurance Team had their best qualifying in the FIA World Endurance Championship with their A424 so far, courtesy of Charles Milesi and Jules Gounon doing some great laps for the team.

Especially Milesi did amazing, setting the fastest lap of all Hypercars in the first part of Qualifying.

Racing24-7.net caught up with Milesi after qualifying, to hear his thoughts.

So, what weighs higher today? The happiness about being P3 or not making P1?

“Oh, I was quite close. You know, it’s a bit of a shame to not be on pole, for sure when everything is close. So now we can be really happy with what we done. And it’s a good starting position for tomorrow with the two cars piece three. And before, we never have been able to put the two cars as high on the grid for the for the start of the race.”

“I think tomorrow, you know, yes, track position will be important, but a bit less the case on Imola. Degradation will be more important than Imola, definitely. And anyways, I think, like the Ferrari’s and the Toyota’s will be back in the game. I think tomorrow, I think they will make they were up to to the front. So I think it will be quite a open race, I think like in depth of like strategy, because I think we have, like, a lot of deg with the mediums and especially also the soft. So it will be interesting to see exactly what will be the best one, and as we don’t have, like a proper clear idea, with with the degradation of tires compared to last year, because tires are new, so we’ll have to see.”

And you had good race pace in Imola too.

“Yeah, yeah. We have a good race pace here in Spa. Look to be a bit the same, maybe a bit more, but it’s difficult to know what the others are doing, with the fuel, and also is like tire mileage, if they split tires, if they use the soft or medium in the race. We could see like the Cadillac using the soft on the first qualifying. So I guess they will have to use those tires for the race. So we’re interesting to know when they use it. We see that the rain might not be coming tomorrow, I think it will be difficult to put the soft on, on our side in the race, so we’ll see. It will be interesting to see. ”

The Saturday’s race at Spa Francorchamps starts at 14.00 CET.
