Ligier has announced the first three costumers, for their brand new JS P228
The JS P228 is the new LMP2 car, which will be introduced in 2028, and will replace the current JS P217.
The first three costumers are Algarve Pro Racing, Inter Europol Competition and Panis Racing.
All three has previous experiences with Ligier, before the LMP2 category basically evolved to be an ORECA-only class, since it turned out that their chassis was the best of the LMP2 cars for the 2017 ruleset.

APR, IE and Panis Racing naturally hopes to have an edge with the new Ligier, compared to the ORECA cars, that currently has United Autosports and Duqueine Team, as the only two confirmed so far.
The new Ligier JS P228 will have the new turbo charged Gibson V6 engine, replacing the current Gibson V8 naturally aspirated. That will bring a very different sound track, when the cars are introduced in the European Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans 2028, Asian Le Mans Series 2028/29, and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2029.
