Toyota Gazoo Racing was also the fastest in Free Practice 2 when the FIA World Endurance Championship was run at Spa Francorchamps.
This time it was Toyota #7 which was quicker ahead of #8. The best non-hybrid car was the DragonSpeed #10, but they were almost 3 seconds slower. On the other hand, they had posted the fastest sector two times of all.
The practice was interested twice due to red flag, plus a FCY period, so not all teams were able to run their programme as planned.
ByKolles Racing Team # 4 stopped on the circuit with half an hour to go, but that was dealt with by a local yellow flag zone.
The CEFC TRSM Racing Ginetta cars did the same as in FP1 – doing one single lap only.
DragonSpeed #31 posted the fastest time in the LMP2 category again, but this time by only 0,4 of a second to the Jackie Chan DC Racing #37 and G-Drive Racing #26.
In the GTE Pro we had the Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK #66 fastest, while Porsche #91 jumped ahead of the other Ford #67. Porsche #92 was ahead of the best AF Corse Ferrari #51 and Aston Martin Racing #95, which finally had come to life. The #95 was only 1,8 seconds behind the Ford, so that was an improvement by almost a second compared to FP1.
Gulf Racing UK Porsche #86 was leading Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche #77, Aston Martin Racing #98 and Spirit of Race Ferrari #54 in the GTE Am category. Only the new team MR Racing Ferrari #70 was a bit left behind – all other GTE Am cars were within 1,4 seconds of each other.
The third free practice will be run Friday between 11.00 and 12.00 local time, prior to the Qualifying being run later in the afternoon.
