The EKS Sport outfit will still appear in the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy in 2019.
The team from Sweden did send out a release in late 2018, that their World Championship run was over, but they have slightly stepped back from that statement.
Hungarian Krisztian Szabo will race in an Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro, that he used for the 2018 European Championship.
Szabo is double European Champion in Super1600, grabbing the title in both 2016 and 2017.
It was team boss Mattias Ekström suggesting to Szabo to give the World RX a go, instead of the European Championship, and the Hungarian was ready to give it at go, especially since the World RX isn’t as strong as in the previous years.
No works teams have entered so far in the 2019, but the official entry list is expected within a few days.
The 2019 edition of the FIA World Rallycross Championship starts on 5-6 April in Abu Dhabi.
