AF Corse Ferrari #51 has lost their GTE Pro victory at the 4 Hours of Shanghai FIA World Endurance Championship round.
At the post-race technical scrutineering, the car was found to be bellow the minimum clearance of 50 mm.
The lack of height wasn’t equal in both sides, but the left side of the car only. The team pointed out to the scrutineers, that there had been a contact on the left side during the race, but when the car was lifted up, there was no dripping fluid, nor any specific damage to see. Those observations were confirmed by the team representatives.
Yet, the team has still opted to appeal the decision, but with such clear evidence – or the lack thereof – they probably don’t have a big chance of winning such an appeal.
That promotes Porsche #92 with Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen as the winners of the race, ahead of Porsche #91 with Richard Lietz and Gianmaria Bruni, while Aston Martin Racing #97 with Maxime Martin and Alexander Lynn grabs the final podium spot.
Today’s results hands Porsche #92 an even bigger lead in the Championship over Porsche #91, while AMR #97 and #95 are in P3 and P4 respectively.
