Alpine shows A424_β

Alpine has shown their brand new A424_β LMDh car, ahead of the very first rollout coming up next month.

The car is developed in collaboration with ORECA, and do have some similarities with the Acura ARX-06 in regards to the front of the car.

It will once again be Signatech running the programme, just like they have done in the FIA WEC since 2012, where it’s primarily has been LMP2 running. They got the chance to buy the Rebellion R13 towards the end of 2020, and then raced two seasons in the Hypercar category against Toyota Gazoo Racing, claiming several wins.

They called that model for the A480, but it was put into storage at the end of the 2022 season, moving back into LMP2 for this year, since the new LMDh car would only be ready for 2024.

The team is planing to test three times during the new months, with the first test being at Circuit Paul Ricard in August, followed by Motorland Aragon in September, and Jerez in October.

The Hypercar category already has cars from Toyota Gazoo Racing, Ferrari AF Corse, Peugeot TotalEnergies, Floyd Vanwall Racing Team, and Glickenhaus Racing, which are all built to the LMH regulations, while Cadillac and Porsche participates with LMDh cars. We know that BMW will enter Hypercar with their LMDh car in 2024, just as Lamborghini with their LMDh. It is still not certain, if Acura/Honda will enter the FIA WEC in 2024, but they are already active in the USA.
