TF Sport has filled their seats in the first of their two Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2024.
The British team has previously announced Charlie Eastwood as the new Corvette factory driver, and lead driver of car #81.
Rui Andrade and Tom van Rompuy was announced today as his two teammates.
Andrade arrives as newly crowned LMP2 champion in the FIA WEC, which he won with Team WRT. The Angolian driver has been doing very well for the last couple of years in both the FIA WEC and European Le Mans Series in LMP2. Andrade has the big advantage of remaining a Silver ranked driver for 2024, and that fits perfectly into the LMGT3 category, where a Platinum or Gold, a Silver or Bronze, and a Bronze driver is demanded as per regulations.
Van Rompuy is the Bronze driver in the car, and has LMP2 experience from 2023 as well. He raced for DKR Engineering for the 2023 season, but previously raced in the Ligier European Series, and in LMP3 in ELMS.
It’s a big puzzle to find the fastest Bronze and Silver ranked drivers for the LMGT3 category, but TF Sport has definately found some good ones with these two signings.
The team still have to announce the two drivers, who will join Daniel Juncadella in car #82.
The FIA WEC 2024 starts on 2 March 2024 in Qatar, with the Prologue being run the weekend prior.
