42 cars ready for ELMS test day

There will be loads of traffic when ELMS have their test day at Paul Ricard on March 22nd and 23rd.

42 cars have entered the test – 13 in LMP2, 9 in GTE and a massive 20 in LMP3.

Only the defending champions Greaves Motorspot has chosen not to test on these 2 days. But they have just finished a test at the Spanish Aragon track this week.

The LMP3 field has really gained a momentum. When the class started in 2015, there were only 5 Ginetta racers entered. At the end of the season, the first Ligier appeared. Now it has turned into a total French domination with 19 out of 20 cars! Only MurphyP3-3Dimensional.com has chosen a Riley chassis instead, since Ginetta has left LMP3 for now. After the season finale last year, some disagreement happend between Ginetta and Nissan, so Ginetta decided to pull out of LMP3. Nissan is the mandatory engine supplier of LMP3.

There is a good spread of car models in LMP2. Gibson 015S, ORECA 03R and 05, Ligier JS P2, Morgan and BR01 are making sure that no brand will run with all the trophies.

In the GTE class there is a fine mix of 5 Ferrari 458 Italia, 2 Aston Martin Vantage and 2 Porsche 911 RSR cars. It will for sure be a dog fight like always in GTE, where BOP makes sure that the brands can compete on similar terms – even if sometimes there are some discussions about BOP…

The season will start on April 16th at the 4 hours of Silverstone, which is a shared event with the FIA WEC, who will also kick off their season.
