Mattias Ekström takes second victory in a row

Mattias Ekström repeated his victory from last weekend, when he took his 2nd win in 2 weeks.

The Swedish Audi driver won ahead of of the 9 Times WRC Championship Sebastien Loeb for 2nd position while Petter Solberg finished 3rd.

The local guest driver, Francois Duval, finished 5th, behind Anton Marklund but ahead of Johan Kristoffersson.

Ekström moved into the lead of the FIA World Rallycross Championship and has pushed Solberg down to 2nd position, Kristoffersson 3rd and Loeb in 4th.

Ekström’s teammate, Toomas Heikkinen lost a lot of ground in the Championship fight. He didn’t even qualify for the semifinals due to technical problems with his car, so he only gained 1 point for the championship.

The next time the impressive World RX cars will be back on track is May 27th-29th at the British Round at Lydden Hill. An important note is that the championship leader Ekström prioritizes this over Nürburgring 24 Hours, which is a very big thing for Audi. But of course it will be a big feather in the cap for them, if he can win the Rallycross title at the end of the year – even if it’s under his own team name.
