BMW coming to FIA WEC in 2018

BMW has announced that they will enter the FIA WEC in 2018.

Not much we can say yet about the news, but they have made it public that they will compete in the GTE category. So we can look forward to a lot of battles between Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche – as a minimum at Le Mans.

The talks are going that Corvette are preparing a GTE-Pro entry, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

BMW is currently active in DTM and all kinds of GT3 racing, among other in the VLN and the 24 Hours race at Nürburgring. They have been active at Le Mans with the M3 model, and have since then used both the Z4 model and currently the M6 model.

So it will be interesting to see if it’s the M6 model that will be the basis of their new GTE car, or if it will be something brand new.
