Alpine Elf Matmut has announced their three drivers for the FIA World Endurance Championship programme in 2021.
When the FIA WEC 2021 entry list was announced last week, it only named Andre Negrao as a driver, since the team preferred to make their own announcement this week.
The team will be run by the Signatech team, that has run their LMP2 programme for the last few seasons.
Nicolas Lapierre returns to the team, after a single season with his own team in the FIA WEC, Cool Racing. Lapierre will continue with Cool Racing in the European Le Mans Series 2021. He raced with Negrao for four seasons at Signatech, so the pairing knows each other very well.
Matthieu Vaxiviere is a new driver to the team, but definitely not a new driver to LMP2. He has previously been a part of TDS Racing, where he raced alongside Emmanuel Collard and Francois Perrodo in the FIA WEC, plus in the European Le Mans Series. The new thing for the French driver will be this LMP1 machinery. It is however still a car build by the ORECA factory.
Alpine has bought the Rebellion R13 car, from the last few years, and renamed it as Alpine A480.

The FIA World Endurance Championship 2021 season starts on 30-31 March, with two days of testing in Portimao, with the first race of the season being run at the same circuit on Sunday 4 April.
