UA and TF Sport with more driver news

United Autosports and TF Sport have been busy announcing drivers for the upcoming European Le Mans Series 2021.

UA have both their LMP2 and both LMP3 cars filled up with drivers now.

Jonathan Aberdein will be racing in #22 in LMP2, sharing the car with Tom Gamble and Phil Hanson. Aberdein did two seasons in DTM, first racing for BMW, and then for Team WRT in their privateer Audi. He raced Formula 4 and Formula 3 prior to that, so he has racing experience in several different cars. But it will be quite a change for him, to race the championship-winning ORECA 07 from the 2020 season.

Their LMP3 car #2 has got the last two drivers signed up. The defending champions Wayne Boyd and Rob Wheldon return for another season, where they will be joined by Edouard Cauhaupe, since Tom Gamble has moved into the LMP2 car. That line-up is the absolute top favourite to repeat the title win.

TF Sport will return to the ELMS in GTE, where they previously raced in 2017, before moving up to the FIA WEC. John Hartshorne and Ollie Hancock will be moving up from the Michelin Le Mans Cup, where they have raced together for the last few seasons in a Ferrari at Kessel Racing. The pairing also races for TF Sport in the Asian Le Mans Series, that is starting these days. They have Charlie Eastwood as a teammate – but since he has been headhunted for the team’s LMP2 programme alongside Salih Yoluc and Harry Tincknell, they will be joined by Ross Gunn instead. Gunn has previously raced with TF Sport, and now he gets a spot in the ELMS 2021. The car is, of course, an Aston Martin Vantage, since that’s the favourite choice of Tom Ferrier, unless he is running an LMP2 car.

The entry list for the European Le Mans Series will be released tomorrow, Friday.
