Takuma Sato will be racing for Chip Ganassi Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series 2023 season – but only on the ovals.
The Japanese racing driver will be sharing car #11 with Marcus Armstrong, who will do the road- and street courses.
Sato has raced in the series for 13 seasons, but no longer has a full-season seat, after having raced for KV Racing, Rahal Letterman Lanigan, A. J. Foyt Enterprises, Andretti Autosport and Dale Coyne Racing. He came to the series in 2010, after 7 years of Formula 1, with plenty of support from Honda in Formula 1, as well as through his Indycar years.
He has scored a total of 11 victories in Indycar, with his two Indy 500 wins as the absolute most memorable.
Takuma Sato will be teammates with the defending Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson, six times Indycar Champion Scott Dixon, 2021 Champion Alex Palou, plus the aforementioned Marcus Armstrong.
The 2023 NTT IndyCar Series starts on 5 March on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, while the oval season starts on 2 April at Texas Motor Speedway.
