The European Le Mans Series finally got their first race weekend of 2020 going. After doing two days of testing, the teams had another two hours of practice today, ahead of another practice session Saturday morning, followed by qualifying.
United Autosports topped LMP2 in the opening practice, with #22 driven by Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson as the fastest car, ahead of Will Owen, Alex Brundle and Job van Uitert in #32. DragonSpeed #21 was the third-fastest car with Memo Rojas, Ben Hanley and Ryan Cullen.
The afternoon session, which was limited to Bronze drivers only, only had Alexandre Coigny in the Cool Racing #37, and Dennis Andersen in the High Class Racing #20 setting any times in LMP2.
The LMP3 category had United Autosports fastest in both practice sessions, with #2 driven by Wayne Boyd, Tom Gamble and Rob Wheldon (Bronze). Realteam Racing #8 with Esteban Garcia and David Droux were second fastest in the open practice, ahead of RLR MSport #15 with Malthe Jakobsen, James Dayson and Ryan Harper-Ellam.
Inter Europol Competition #13 with Martin Hippe was second in the Bronze session, with Graff #9 driven by Arnold Robin in P3.
Proton Competition Porsche #77 continued their fast pace from earlier in the week with Christian Ried, Michele Beretta and Alessandro Picariello on P1 in the opening practice, followed by Iron Lynx Ferrari #60 with Claudio Schiavioni, Sergio Pianezzola and Andrea Piccini, plus Spirit Of Race Ferrari #55 with Duncan Cameron, Matt Griffin and Aaron Scott on P3.
Kessel Racing Ferrari #74 was fastest in the Bronze test, with Michael Broniszewski behind the wheel, ahead of Proton Competition Porsche #77 with Ried driving, and Manuela Gostner in the Iron Lynx Ferrari #83 in third.
The cars will be back on track tomorrow morning, for another 90 minutes of free practice, with all drivers allowed to participate. The qualifying will run at 13.40 and can be viewed via this link.
