Whelen Engineering remains unchanged in 2021

Whelen Engineering Cadillac #31 has presented their plans for the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Action Express will run the team for the fifth year in a row, with Pipo Derani and Felipe Nasr behind the wheel once again.

The team has found a new third driver for the endurance races, with Filipe Albuquerque being replaced by Mike Conway. Conway has been driving for Action Express on-and-off for several seasons, when there haven’t been scheduling conflicts with his FIA WEC running, or when the Brit had issues ahead of Daytona 2019.

Albuquerque is expected to pop up at another IMSA team in the near future.

2020 has been a somewhat frustrating year for the team, which has shown itself for the last couple of race weekends, where those frustrations have been very clear on the track. That frustration has primarily hit Acura Team Penske #7.

The 2020 season finale will run this weekend at Sebring, with Gabby Chaves being the third driver, since Mike Conway is busy at the FIA WEC season finale in Bahrain.
