Three untroubled practice sessions in Barcelona

European Le Mans Series managed to run three quite unproblematic practice sessions prior to this afternoon’s qualifying and tomorrow’s race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

First practice had the defending champions from United Autosports #22 as the fastest LMP2 car, right ahead of fastest LMP2 Pro/Am var, Cool Racing #37. The Pro/Am designation is new to LMP2 in Europe, and includes the teams that have a Bronze-rated driver in the car.

Graff #8 was the fastest amongst the LMP3 cars, while TF Sport Aston Martin #95 was fastest amongst the GTE cars.

In the 30 minutes Bronze-driver only practice sessions, it was Racing Team Turkey #34 who was the fastest in LMP2 Pro/Am, while Inter Europol Competition #14 was the quickest in LMP3, and JMW Motorsport Ferrari #66 was the fastest in GTE.

The final practice sessions started out with a damp track, but it quickly dried out, and the fastest laps of the whole week were posted. Team WRT #41 fastest in LMP2, DragonSpeed #21 in LMP2 Pro/Am, while United Autosports #3 was the fastest LMP3 car, and Iron Lynx Ferrari #80 i GTE.

The innovative car from Association SRT41 was just about clear of the LMP3 field, with their fastest driver Pierre Sancinena in the car, while the other two drivers, Nigel Bailly and Takuma Aoki struggled to keep up the pace. But they are the two drivers, who have to race the LMP2 car with hand controls only.

The qualifying session for tomorrow’s 4 hour race can be viewed this afternoon on YouTube from 13.35 CET, or in replay whenever you want.
