Christian Lundgaard has got a full season NTT IndyCar Series in 2022.
The 20-year-old Danish racing driver has signed a contract with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, for whom he got a single race in 2021, on the infield of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. That debut exceeded all expectations by him qualifying 4th – ahead of both Takuma Sato and Graham real – and finished the race 12th amongst the 26 finishing cars.
The Dane is a part of Alpine Academy, which is for young talents, receiving support towards Formula 1 for the Alpine team. Both seats are taken for 2022, so they have started to think in different ways, since a third season Formula 2 really wouldn’t bring anything new to the table for Lundgaard.
Lundgaard will jump into #30, which was previously associated with Takuma Sato. The double Indy500 winner is no longer part of the team, and his future plans are still yet to be revealed.
The other two drivers for the team will be Graham Rahal and Jack Harvey, racing #15 and #45 throughout the full 2022 season.
This will be the first time for Christian Lundgaard on oval, with Indy500 being the absolute top of that mountain in May 2022.
The NTT IndyCar Series 2022 starts on 27 February, on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
