G-Drive Racing has revealed some of the 2022 plans.
The Russian sponsor, who has been around sportscar racing for many years, has extended its partnership with Algarve Pro Racing, after the two parties started working together in the Asian Le Mans Series, and more recently, in the European Le Mans Series 2021.
The season already started in January at Daytona International Speedway, where APR and G-Drive Racing will participate in the classic 24 hours race, which is a part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
They will stay in Florida, where the FIA WEC season is scheduled to start at Sebring in March.
This isn’t the first time for the G-Drive Racing name in the FIA WEC. The team raced for many years, with TDS Racing, OAK Racing and Signatech as service providers, but has more recently raced in the European Le Mans Series with teams like Graff and JOTA – and now APR.
The team hasn’t announced any drivers yet, but have had prominent names like Jean-Eric Vergne and Nyck de Vries as drivers in the past.
Algarve Pro Racing is also expected to run a separate programme under their own banner in 2022.
