José María López cleared to race

After his heavy crash during the 6 hours of Silverstone back in April 2017, José María López injured two vertebrae. As a result, the Argentinean had to sit out the following WEC round at Spa.

For his Formula E commitment, the DS Virgin Racing driver travelled to Monaco for the fifth round of the championship, and this afternoon López received green lights from the doctors.

“I have been cleared by the doctors. My back looks ok, I feel fine and it’s safe to race. Tomorrow I will be driving in the first free practice session to check if I have any pain. If this is the case and, contrary to expectations, I should not feel comfortable in the car, I will hand over to Alex Lynn. But first, I need to jump in the car and see how it goes”, said López.

The first free practice session starts at 8am on Saturday morning and is the first outing on the 1.76km long circuit in Monaco.
