Everybody knowing only a slight bit about motorsport will know the name Schumacher.
Most people will still be thinking about the multiple Formula 1 World Champion Michael, while others think about his son Mick, who has driven ADAC Formula 4 and currently competes in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
Maybe some are thinking about Ralf Schumacher – the brother of Michael. And it’s that part of the family, that we will be concentrating on in this article.
When Ralf ended his DTM career for Mercedes following the 2012 season, he started looking into developing talents. US Racing was started for the 2016 ADAC Formula 4 season, together with Gerhard Ungar, whom he knew from his Mercedes time.
The four drivers driving for the team this season is Nicklas Nielsen, Julian Hanses, Fabio Scherer and Kim Luis Schramm. The team has well and truly shown its potential with the drivers currently in in 8th, 7th, 6th and 4th position in the Championship respectively.
Now the next generation of Schumacher is on his way – David Schumacher – the son of Ralf.
The 16 year old racing driver was testing an ADAC Formula 4 car last week for the team, where Leon Köhler and Marius Zug participated too.
So far it was only a test for the team, but they talk about the three drivers in positive tones.
Fact is that the team will have to wipe the board partly if not fully for next season, since all of their current driver line-up is unlikely to continue in ADAC Formula 4. Nicklas Nielsen, Fabio Scherer and Julian Hanses are all doing their second season in the series, while Kim Luis Schramm is in his third season. So there should be at least one seat available at US Racing for the 2018 season.
The next round of this years ADAC Formula 4 Championship will be held at Sachsenring on September 15th-17th.
