Wright Motorsport is going to start the 2018 season of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with one new and one well-known driver for the team.
The team from Batavia, Ohio will enter Patrick Long and the double IMSA GTD Champion, Christina Nielsen.
Long will start his third season for the team, whom he has competed in the Pirelli World Challenge with, while Nielsen arrives from Scuderia Corsa, where she is the double defending Champion, with their Ferrari.
Nielsen has a big knowledge of Porsche racing cars from previously in her career, where she competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, ADAC GT Masters and GT3 Cup Middle East with the German brand.
The car will be one of the brand new Porsche 911 GT3R cars, and will compete in the GTD category. The team has a big task ahead of them since they will race against Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Audi and Lamborghini.
The competition will have to be well prepared to beat the Nielsen/Long combo. Long will be starting his 16th season as a works driver for Porsche, and Nielsen has proved throughout the 2016/17 that she is a fast and reliable driver, and she can beat several of the competitors, even though they have a lot more experience than the 25 year-old Dane.
The team need two more drivers for the Daytona 24 Hours in January, but those two will be announced at a later stage.
