Action Express already have their WeatherTech SportsCar Championship line-up for 2019 ready.
They opted to keep Filipe Albuerquerque and Joao Barbosa in the Mustang Sampling #5, while Felipe Nasr will have a new teammate in the shape of Pipo Derani in the Whelen Engineering #31.
So you can kind of call the two Cadillac DPi-V.R cars for Team Portugal and Team Brazil respectively – with all Portuguese speaking drivers for the Floridian team.
There will most likely be spoken English within the team anyway, since they need a further two drivers for the endurance rounds at Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans and potentially Watkins Glen.
Pipo Derani will join the team coming from the Tequila Patron Extreme Speed Motorsports outfit, where he has raced for the last few seasons. The last couple of seasons have been full seasons for him, which unfortunately has been plagued by technical issues. But when the Nissan DPi has been running flawlessly, the team actually managed to win the 12 Hours of Sebring with Pipo as one of the drivers earlier this year.
The team will say goodbye to Eric Curran, who has been a part of the AX Racing team since 2015.
The 2019 season starts with the Daytona 24 Hours on the final weekend of January, but with testing happening both at the Daytona track, as well as private test days.
