Patricio O’Ward will be racing in the NTT IndyCar Series 2019 season after all – at least for some of the season.
The defending Indy Lights champion has signed a contract with Carlin, where he will be racing the 12 races, that Charlie Kimball won’t do.
Carlin will enter a third car for the Indy 500, so Max Chilton, Charlie Kimball and Patricio O’Ward all will have a car for that event.
O’Ward has originally signed with Harding Steinbrenner Racing, but was released from that contract one month ago, due to the team not having the funds of running a second car alongside Colton Herta.
The 19 year-old racing driver will have his start to the season at COTA, since Kimball is racing the car this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida.
