Magnus closes – but continues

The well known Magnus Racing will shut down their racing activities – at least in the previously known form.

The team has raced a mix of Porsche, Audi and Lamborghini cars during the past seasons in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where team owner John Potter has been shopping a bit around, but always with their own mechanics and crew chiefs on the pit wall.

He will race on in 2020 in the same Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO, that he utilized in 2019 too. But the car will be run by the Lambo experts from Grasser Racing Team.

Magnus Racing has often had problems getting the same performance out of the car, since they have been a small one-car team. But with this new agreement, they have GEAR Racing teammates Katherine Legge and Christina Nielsen to share data with. There will be even more data available within the team at the Daytona 24 Hours, with GRT bringing a third car, as we reported last week.

Potter will bring his long-time teammate Andy Lally to GRT, just as Spencer Pumpelly will help out at the longer Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.

There are no clues about the new design yet, so we don’t know if it will be a traditional Grasser-green, or if it will be totally different colours on the car.

There are two weeks until the testing starts at the ROAR Before The 24, at Daytona International Speedway.
