All-French at Mustang Sampling

Mustang Sampling Cadillac #5 will be racing in the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with an all-French driver line-up.

Tristan Vautier completed the season for the team, which was run by JDC-Miller Motorsports since 2020, and he will be upgraded to a full-season driver.

He will be joined by Loic Duval, who helped the team out at the endurance rounds in 2020. Duval has plenty of prototype experience from his Audi Sport years, and with Pescarolo prior to that. He has primarily been focussing on DTM for Audi in the most recent years, but that programme has shut down now. Audi is, however, working on a new prototype programme for 2023, but it’s not yet revealed, if Duval will be part of that programme.

Sebastien Bourdais will return to the team for the endurance rounds. He was their only full season driver through the 2020 season, but was kinda only doing that has a backup, since he got fired from his Indycar programme at very short notice. He has however signed a new Indycar deal for 2021, so he won’t have the time to do a full season, but will instead help out at the four Michelin Endurance Cup races at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans.

There is no news regarding the drivers of the team’s yellow #85, or if that will remain parked in the garage in 2021.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season will start in one months time with the ROAR test at Daytona International Speedway, with the 24-hour race itself being run one week later.
