Team WRT double up for FIA WEC

Team WRT had an amazing rookie season in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, and will double their effort for the upcoming 2022 season.

The team was all-dominating in both the FIA WEC and European Le Mans Series, despite it being their very first season with ORECA 07 Gibson cars.

They are ready to announce one driver in each of the cars.

Sean Gelael will move over from JOTA to Team WRT, and will be racing car #31. The Indonesian driver was able to slowly get more and more to grips with sportscar racing over the duration of the season, and managed to put some of the single-seater mindset away. It’s going to be interesting to see, exactly how dominant that the KFC logos are going to be on the car this year – but they will surely be on the car, since the family owns the franchise of the fast-food brand in Indonesia.

Car #41 will be branded Realteam by WRT, and will have Rui Andrade as one of the three drivers. Andrade competed with G-Drive Racing throughout the 2021 season in the ELMS, and is one of the biggest talents in the young generation in sportscar racing. Realteam raced the 2021 season under their own banner, but was run by TDS Racing.

The remaining four drivers will be announced in the near future.

The reason for the team only announcing one driver for each of the cars, since that only one name has to be present on the official FIA WEC entry list, which is expected to be released in just a few days.
