Late Sebring call for Jani

Neel Jani will be making a trip to Sebring in 2022 after all.

The 38-year-old Swiss racing driver was actually left without a seat for the Super Sebring weekend, where both FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be in action.

But Jani was called up by Chip Ganassi Racing, when they all of a sudden was one driver short, after the departure of Kevin Magnussen, who jumped on the Formula 1 wagon with HAAS F1 Team once again.

So Alexander Lynn and Earl Bamber will have Jani as their teammate this coming weekend in the Cadillac Racing #02.

The CGR team has a 1-race policy in place for this weekend. That is for both their Indycar drivers, where at least two should have been present at Sebring, as well as their sportscar drivers. Sebastien Bourdais and previously mentioned Lynn haven’t been allowed to race for their FIA WEC teams, despite it being on the exact same track – and the races being held two days in a row. So their replacements are Mike Rockenfeller and Paul di Resta respectively.

The 12 Hours of Sebring will run this Saturday 19 March, with the green flag being shown at 15.40 CET.
