Sean Creech confirms LMP2 programme

Sean Creech Motorsports has confirmed their future plans in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

They are going to enter the LMP2 category, once the LMP3 category in the American series closes after this season.

But the choice is not on the popular ORECA 07, which pretty much every team around the world uses. But the team has opted for a Ligier JS P217. They already know Ligier from running LMP3, and as the team points out in their press release, several of their mechanics already have LMP2 experience.

The new JS P217 is set for delivery this week, at the harbor in Miami, so the team can start testing ahead of next season. They are however going to close off the season in LMP3, with the Road America, Indianapolis, and Road Atlanta races still to go.

They do however still need to be selected for the IMSA series, since the interest in LMP2 is super high. The LMP3 category closes in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, but will continue in some of their lower series. But on top of that, the LMP2 category will disappear in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which already has made United Autosports and Inter Europol Competition confirm their intent to run in IMSA in 2024. But Sean Creech Motorsports do have the big advantage of already being part of IWSC for many years, on top of the support categories.
