Kanaan slowly winds down Indycar career

Tony Kanaan will slowly be winding down his NTT IndyCar Series career. The 45-year-old Brazilian will only be doing the five oval races on the 2020 schedule, while letting another driver do the twelve remaining races in the #14 A. J. Foyt Enterprises car. Kanaan is the driver with the most consecutive starts in the Champ Car/Indycar, doing 317 weekends in a row. He has raced every single race since Portland 2001. That chain comes to an end now, with him not entering a race until the Indianapolis 500 race…

Ferrucci and Kimball confirmed

Santino Ferrucci and Charlie Kimball have both found an NTT IndyCar Series ride for the 2020 season. Ferrucci will continue at Dale Coyne Racing, but he will take over the SealMaster car, that was driven by Sebastien Bourdais during the 2019 campaign. This will be the second full season for the American in Indycar, where he has shown glimpes of excelence, but mixed up with quite a few rookie-mistakes. These errors need to be removed, if he wants any hope of finishing in the top 10 of the championship. Only…

Palou to Dale Coyne

Dale Coyne Racing has found their first driver for the NTT IndyCar Series 2020. Spanish driver Alex Palou will race for the American team. Palou has recently raced in Super Formula in Japan, which we formerly knew as Formula Nippon. He won the Rookie title and became the overall race winner too. He will bring the Team Goh name to the USA, so his car officially will be run by Daly Coyne Racing with Team Goh. He raced for Team Goh in the Japanese Super GT category in 2019. The…

Daly new ECR driver

Conor Daly will be racing for Ed Carpenter Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series 2020. He will be doing the 12 rounds on road- and street courses, plus the Indianapolis 500, where he will pilot the team’s third entry. He will have to hand over the regular car to team owner Ed Carpenter on the ovals, who loves doing oval races, but doesn’t fancy the twisty tracks and therefore hires another driver for those. Daly will bring his U.S. Air Force deal with him, which he debuted at Indy 500…

Bourdais fired by Coyne

Sebastien Bourdais is no longer a part of the NTT IndyCar Series, driving for Dale Coyne Racing. Following 4 seasons with the team, the collaboration has ended very abruptly, with a very surprising press release Friday afternoon, local time. The 4 times Champ Car Champion drove for the team in 2011, and from 2017-2019, where he delivered some of the best results ever for the team, including two wins and three other podium finishes. He did have the worst crash of his career at Indianapolis, where he broke his hip,…

ECR hires young Dutchman

Ed Carpenter Racing has hired a new driver for the car #21 in the NTT IndyCar Series 2020. That will be 19 year-old Dutchman Rinus VeeKay, who finished second in the Indy Lights Championship in 2019. He was pushing Oliver Askew throughout the season, who has already landed at seat at Arrow McLaren SP. VeeKay wasn’t born with that last name, but he got his real name changed, like so many others have done so the past, making it a bit easier to say. He was born Rinus van Kalmthout,…

Intense finish to the 2019 IndyCar season

The final in NTT IndyCar Series 2019 was run at the returning WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which was back on the calendar for the first time in fifteen years. Already in the qualifying, there was a reference to the past. Colton Herta, the son of Bryan Herta, had taken Pole Position ahead of Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, Josef Newgarden, James Hinchcliffe and Simon Pagenaud. Thus all four championship contenders were in the top six: Newgarden, Rossi, Pagenaud, and Dixon. As it was in the previous seasons, there would be double…

NTT IndyCar Series ready with 2020 schedule

The NTT IndyCar Series has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2020 season. 16 of the 17 events are back again, where the Pocono oval race has been replaced by the Richmond Raceway oval. That is no surprise, after the unlucky and tragic episodes during the recent years on the Super Speedway in Pocono. Richmond is a Short Oval, with just 0,75 Miles per lap. That will be a new challenge for most of the drivers, since it hasn’t been on the Indycar calendar since 2009. The season starts one…

Bad weekend for the favourites in Portland

The 2019 season’s penultimate race in NTT IndyCar Series was Grand Prix of Portland, on the classic Portland International Raceway, which came to the calendar for the second year in a row. Colton Herta had taken his second Pole Position in Indycar, ahead of Will Power, Scott Dixon, Jack Harvey, Felix Rosenqvist and…

Close finish on the last oval race of the season

Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway was the fifteenth round in the NTT IndyCar Series. It was a bit of a mouthful for the race that covers over 500 miles on the track near St. Louis, Missouri, which a lot of people know as Gateway. And there were fights all the way until the chequered flag, at the last oval race of the year for the series. Championship leader Josef Newgarden had taken Pole Position for the second week in a row. Sebastien Bourdais was second, ahead…

Shortened race at Pocono

NTT IndyCar Series was back from summer holiday with the ABC Supply 500 Miles race at Pocono Raceway. Saturday was plagued by rain, so the cars weren’t on the track at all on the first two practices, and the qualifying that should’ve come straight afterwards was also cancelled. That was why the starting grid was decided based on the championship standing. It meant that Josef Newgarden started on Pole Position, ahead of Alexander Rossi, Simon Pagenaud, Scott Dixon, Will Power and Ryan Hunter-Reay. The start was extremely chaotic, where the…

SPM to become Arrow McLaren Racing SP

There will be significant changes at Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in the coming months. The team has signed a technical alliance with McLaren, who returns to the NTT IndyCar Series full time, for the first time since 1979. The collaboration means that the outlook of the team will change quite a bit. SPM has traditionally been a Honda team, but McLaren and Honda had quite a bit of a fall out, to put it mildly, after their Formula 1 break-up, so it will be Chevrolet engines for them in 2020. The…

The conventional combustion engine and the hybrid system will give the cars over 900 horsepower, with some of that power being activated for the Push2Pass system. A bonus with adding the hybrid is…
