Inception Racing in full IMSA season

Inception Racing is ready for a full season of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship racing in 2023.

The British team has had starts in the American sportscar series before, but this will be the first time, that the McLaren team will do a full season.

The season starts at Daytona with the 24 hours race, with Brendan Iribe, Ollie Millroy and Frederik Schandorff once again sharing the car. They will get some help from Marvin Kirchhöfer for that single race. Millroy will help out at the other three endurance rounds – Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans. Iribe and Schandorff will do the full season as a pairing.

The team already showed good speed in 2022. They were right in the battle for the win at Daytona, until brake issues send them into the pits. They finished second at Watkins Glen, which was the best race result. They ended up winning the Michelin Endurance Cup for GTD cars.

It’s a big thing for Danish race Schandorff, to get another season with the team. The Dane will be upgraded from Silver to Gold-ranked driver in 2023, but will keep the job in the McLaren racer.

The programme is one of many, that Optimum Motorsport will run. They are running many programmes under their own name, or with title sponsors like Inception Racing.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2023 starts on 20 January with the ROAR test, with the actual Rolex 24 at Daytona being run on 28-29 January.
